Exhausting Resilience

We always hear stuff like “this too shall pass” or “you have to be more resilient” — and I absolutely agree. But, what if trying so hard to be resilient, to be tough, to be motivated, to be positive, is exhausting? What about those days when you simply don’t have the energy?

I heard a psychiatrist saying that resilience is also a job, and like all jobs, it consumes energy. Well, right now, I feel like I don’t have any energy left. I feel like I am done with being resilient because it takes too much.

Don’t get me wrong. I know it is temporary, but I wish people would normalize the “I can’t”. Because right now I really can’t.

We all have so many battles that we fight in silence, and I’m not going to talk about them, but they are present every single second; I try so hard to ignore them and to be resilient, but my energy is at a very low point right now.

It’s so easy to say, “if you can’t change it, then ignore it”; Ignoring something is also a job. It doesn’t just happen. You literally have to put energy into the task of ignoring a situation. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it is okay to be down sometimes. It is okay not to have a perfect life. It is okay to take your time to deal with the downs.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. You are a human being, and nobody has taught us how to deal with our burdens.

I really hope you know how much you are worth it. I hope you know that you are not alone during these uncertain times and that all of us go through rough patches. I hope that, when you feel ready, you can find the resources to recharge your energy and feel that every day is wonderful, and so are you.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that this too shall pass.
